Privacy Policy

Math to Word ("the Extension", "we", "our") is a Chrome browser extension that exports AI conversations to Word documents. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Do NOT Collect

The Extension processes your AI conversations entirely within your browser. We never see, store, or transmit:

• Your conversation content (messages, math equations, code, etc.)
• Your browsing history
• Your AI account credentials
• Any personal information beyond what you provide for payment

2. Data We DO Collect

License verification (paid users only): When you enter a license key, the Extension sends only the license key string to our verification server. No personal data is sent. The server confirms whether the key is valid and returns the plan type. This is cached locally for 24 hours to minimize server requests.

Export counter (free users only): The number of exports you have used (0–3) is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. This value never leaves your device.

Payment information: If you purchase a subscription, payment is processed by LemonSqueezy or Paddle. We receive only your email address to deliver your license key. We do not store payment card details.

3. Local Storage

The Extension stores the following data locally in your browser:

• exportCount – number of exports used (free tier counter)
• licenseKey – your license key (if activated)
• licenseStatus – active / invalid
• licenseExpiry – timestamp of last successful verification
• licensePlan – weekly or monthly

You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension or clearing extension storage via chrome://extensions.

4. Third-Party Services

• LemonSqueezy – payment processing. See their privacy policy.
• Paddle – payment processing. See their privacy policy.
• Supabase – license key database (stores license key, email, plan, expiry). See their privacy policy.
• Vercel – API hosting. See their privacy policy.

5. Permissions Used

• activeTab – to read the current AI chat page when you click Export.
• scripting – to run the extraction script on the current tab.
• storage – to save your export count and license key locally.
• host_permissions for claude.ai, chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com, etc. – to allow the extraction script to run only on supported AI sites.

We do not request permissions to read all websites, your browsing history, or your clipboard.

6. Data Retention

License keys in our database are retained for as long as the subscription is active, plus 90 days after cancellation for support purposes. You may request deletion at any time by emailing us.

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be noted in the extension's update changelog. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance.
